Per the Miami Herald, the official Twitter account for FEMA Region 4 accidentally directed followers to a phone sex line in a tweet shared last week advertising a helpline for those whose roofs were affected by the storm. (Consumerist managed to snag a screenshot.)

The mistake was a simple matter of mixed up toll-free area codes. While 1-888-ROOF-BLU leads to a helpline, 1-800-ROOF-BLU (the accidentally tweeted number) leads to a greeting from "America's hottest talk line."

FEMA realized its error and has since replaced the tweet with a more wholesome corrected version.

Considering that Hurricane Irma caused widespread, costly destruction across Florida, we imagine the seedy sounds of an automated sex line greeting was an... unwelcomesurprise for callers.
